Last year, a friend of mine down in Maryland went to Ghana and South Africa, and she picked me up a wine from Zimbabwe. Last night, I finally opened the bottle to see what it was like.

To say the least, this wine is too tannic, too full of sediment (it feels of the smallest grittyness on your tongue), and the taste is what I term 'hollow.'

The wine is composed of a grape called Ruby Cabernet, which is known for it's ability to deal with drought, and Cabernet Franc.

Perhaps I got a bad bottle, but I don't see this wine as something that would be a winner.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
